Gold 03:40
GOLD (O'Farrell) And I love her so. I wouldn’t trade her for gold. Walking on moonbeams I was born with a silver spoon. Hell I’m gonna be me. gonna be free. Walking on moonbeams and staring out to sea. And if a door be closed then a row of homes start building And tear your curtains down for sunlight is like gold. Hell you better be you do what you can do. Walking on moonbeams and staring out to sea. Cause if your skin was soil how long do you think before they’d start digging. And if your life was gold how long do you think you’d stay living. And I love her so. I wouldn’t trade her for gold.

Breaking Out 05:36
Breaking Out (O’Farrell / MacClancy) Together as we lie. the windows kiss a black night sky. You ask me who am I. and I make a sad reply. Then you told me of your friend who found his brother headless with a shotgun still smoking in his arms. His mother never thought he’d come to any harm. So slowly as I die you can look into my eyes and see the cold March sky Breaking out, Breaking out I’m reaching out, and kicking down. Cars roll by with their windows closed the city stands and watches them pass Like a whore waiting for them to stop and ask how much for a fuck without the mask? So slowly as I die you can look into my eyes and see the cold March sky Breaking out, Breaking out I’m reaching out, and kicking down Breaking out, Breaking out I’m reaching out, and kicking down There’s a corridor with paintings where every face is framed I have taken you to walk there you know communion’s found in shame Together as we lie. the windows kiss a black night sky. You ask me who am I. and I make a sad reply. Breaking out, Breaking out I’m reaching out, and kicking down

Wild Bills Circus Scene (O’Farrell / MacClancy) It is a shame the way you chose to go like a genuine hero who joined a travelling show A broken Indian, in Wild Bills Circus scene alone at night in your bed with the wind do you think of what was and what might have been It was in July when you closed the door a decision you took on the killing floor And now your head is swelling with more and more things that make truth seem obscure I loved you once when your excuses were pure Remember the unravelling rambling road the burning horizon a city that glowed The fields that rolled like waves to the wall where we sat listening to the sound of a call And the silence But that was all so very long ago The seasons turned those green fields to gold like the money that buys you peace Jewels on your fingers and snakes at your feet the price of the doorman where all your prophets meet Won't you take me to dance in the streets of my last chance Please Take me to dance..... today

Something Right (O’Farrell / MacClancy / Seezer) I thought my problem was an empty bowl, until my bowl was filled. I thought my sorrow was having to move, until my movement stilled. I thought my fear was of the dark, until I turned on the light. I thought that I could do nothing wrong, until I did something right. I was dreaming I could touch the stars when I fell out of my tree. I was Always laughing at somebody else, ‘till the joke turned on me. I thought my courage meant I’d never loose, until I gave up the fight. I thought that I could do nothing wrong, until I did something right. Do you ever feel wonder, but nothing to touch? yet touched is all you feel. I thought of a mountain as something to climb, and not something to rise…. in me. I thought the world was a shallow place, ’till I was lost at sea. I thought my strength was in standing alone, ’till the ground gave beneath my feet. And all my hopes were tied up in dreams….. until the end of the night. I thought that I could do nothing wrong, Until I did something right. I thought that I could do nothing wrong, Until I did something right.

American Townland (O’Farrell / MacClancy) American townland, snow and Iceland Russian farmland and the sword of Islam. The state of new Israel remembers Belsen now the sand of Palestine is the grass for Israel. Won’t you settle down. stop fighting for your Gods. They can’t hear you now not with the noise of your guns. Woah settle down. stop fighting for your Gods. They can’t hear you now not with the noise of your guns. Once were towering steeples now there’s a soaring eagle. a crescent moon and a rising sun. our prayers ascending- what good will they bring. when all's that’s willing is more and more killing. Won't you settle down. stop fighting for your Gods. They can’t hear you now not with the noise of your guns. Woah settle down. stop fighting for your Gods. They can’t hear you now not with the noise of your guns We’ve got the Mountains of Mourne the County Cork I was born in Any dirty old town where the rain keeps on falling. our prayers ascending, but what good will they bring? if all that’s willing is more and more killing…..

Vaj Vaj 05:20
Vaj Vaj (O’Farrell / MacClancy) If Vaj Vaj left today. I wonder if I’d last. The bodies slow decay. But you cannot stop the time nor the rain so blue because I love you. Horses stumbling. I saw the carriage stall. Where a face was turning to hear the words that fall like the rain so blue because I love you. Drag drag go the waves. Claw down a poisioned shore. the footsteps in the sand Are gone for evermore just like the rain so blue because I love you. Mysteries are silent, Here in the air or stone. They stare at me like precious idols from the temple of bone Through to the rain so blue because I love you.

Looking for Someone (O’Farrell / MacClancy / Levis) I was looking for someone thought it might be you. I was hoping for hope my love. thought you’d pull me on through. These roads keep on changing, jokers twisting signs in every mile. I seriously can’t remember, the last time I smiled. you are the one, my only one. bringing ease to my sorrow. Well I was looking for someone thought it might be you. I was hoping for hope my love. thought you’d pull me on through. I was frightened they would see this man cry inside a rainy town. I was looking at the sunlight when the night came tumbling down. I wondered through the darkening streets until I found you here. there was brightness in your face as you dried all of my tears. Well I was looking for someone thought it might be you. I was hoping for hope my love. thought you’d pull me on through. Darling take my two hands and we will run through cracking dawn. you know I still can’t remember where or what we’re running from. All I know is your the only steady thing in a rock and rolling world. please please stay beside me. Well I was looking for someone thought it might be you. I was hoping for hope my love. thought you’d pull me on through.

Cain and Abel (O’Farrell / Murphy) Naked men in the deserts are feeding the peasants and watch out for Cain he comes down like the rain. Abel’s not able to eat from the table because his throat got cut when Cain was using the razor Cain is now a barber heavy into fashion and that neolithic style is really all the rage, watch out for the Bible cried the man inside the tower but his mind was choked when the Devil swung the rope Why can't you see, it's not what I ever wanted? Just you and me, and what we believe The feeling was growing like the flowers only faster when the flies took a trip on a ship to Majorca by the time they came back the politicians had the answer so the problem unsolved soon led to disaster. Somebody blamed someone said we were responsible I couldn't take it said, "I broke the handle"' they came down really fast and said, "Hey! it's all over" but I was only joking and the handles still broken Why can't you see, it's not what I ever wanted? Just you and me, and what we believe And what we believe... Naked men in the deserts are feeding the peasants and watch out for Cain he comes down like the rain. Abel’s not able to eat from the table because his throat got cut when Cain was using the razor Cain is now a barber heavy into fashion and that neolithic style is really all the rage, watch out for the Bible cried the man inside the tower but his mind was choked when the Devil swung the rope Oh yeah Oh yeah...

Sail On 04:14
Sail On (O’Farrell / MacClancy / Seezer) The moon is a ship at night and it sails over a starry sea. It’s sailors seek out lovers, to hear things they're saying to each other. Well if life was a fairy-tale every word would come true. And as you lie here by my side, I'd whisper… "I love you"... The sun is a honey-pot and my loves a busy bee. As you lie here by my side we are sharing the same dream Well If life was a fairytale, every word would come true. And love would last forever, thru these days and nights so blue... Sail on silver moon, sail on, sail on, sail on. Sail on silver moon, sail on, sail on, sail on. Sail on silver moon, sail on, sail on, sail on Sail on moon.... When I see a shining flame falling thru the burning night. I’ll always think of you, wishing everything is so alright, alright, And Sail on silver moon, sail on, sail on, sail on. Sail on silver moon, sail on, sail on, sail on. Sail on silver moon, sail on, sail on, sail on Sail on moon. ...

I Owe You Nothing (O’Farrell / MacClancy) Do the words owe the melody does the bird owe its song. Do the waves owe the ocean, or the moonbeams the sun. Does the dance owe the foot. or the foot owe the shoe. Does the bullet owe the barrel, or the sniper that shoots. Do the trees owe the forest does the sand owe the beach. Do the mountains owe the heavens, or the hell underneath. Does the sweet owe the sugar, or the sugar the sweet. Does the bridge owe the river, or the house owe the street. I owe you nothing except everything I own And all I see in my world. and all that’s left unknown. Does the day owe the hour, does the year owe the week. Does the map owe the pirate, or the treasure he seeks. Does the bottle owe the cork or the wine or the glass. Does the question owe the answer, or the reason it’s asked. I owe you nothing except everything I own And all I have in truth. I only have on loan Does the painting owe the canvas or the scene or the brush. Does the suitor owe his honour or the virgin her blush. Does the fruit owe the flower or the branch or the tree. Did Rapunzel owe the tower / does the rainbow owe the shower or the honey the bee. I owe you nothing except everything I own And all I have in truth. I only have on loan I owe you nothing. except everything I own And all the joy in the world we only have on loan

Dark Days 04:28
Dark Days (O’Farrell / MacClancy / Seezer) I’ve lived through Dark Days, when I couldn’t believe. I heard every kind word, as a trick to deceive. Trying to find a voice to wish. but ending up with a shout. If you’re the one who tells the lie, you’re the first to find out. Oh luck is hard to take, ‘cause it takes you by surprise. And when it brings love in it’s arms, it’s harder to be wise. I fought against it tooth and nail, I’ve tried to kill it in the womb. And when my last weapon was broke, you took me to your room. So I’m drinking and smoking. I’m taking pills when I’m not ill. I’ve enjoyed the most of it, And the truth is I do still. But there’s nothing I’d do differently. there’s no way I’d change my life. To get a decent cutting edge, well You’ve got to whet the knife.

about

Breaking Out the Soundtrack contains 11 songs by Fergus O'Farrell and interference. Re-mastered from their original recordings by
Bob Ludwig of gateway Mastering Studio, Maine, USA.

Of the 32 tracks used in the film these songs represent perhaps the best of O'Farrell's writing. Includes the brand new song 'I Owe You Nothing' , the last song O'Farrell was working on and featured in the film during the recording session with members of The Frames. Interference have been a major influence on many of their peers across their 30 year existence and remain one of Irelands most popular live acts, often fronted nowadays by Academy award winning musician Glen Hansard.
